My Garage Sale Lesson

Image
This weekend was my subdivision's garage sale.  We have it every six months and I force myself to participate.  I wake up early in the morning to open up my garage doors and sell my unwanted items.  I love to hate this event every 6 months.  Taking part, forces me to declutter .   I actually took off work on Friday to clean and go through every room.  I wanted to find items to take to the garage.  From clothes to toys to books and dvd's, there was plenty to include in the sale.  I quickly realized that it was going to be chaotic and disorganized before it was clean.  It's the part I hated most about the process.  In the midst of trying to get the house clean, tidy and organized, things got messy . What a beautiful lesson!  That's how it is with our lives.  God desires to lead us gently to a place of self discovery.  Nudging us along to clean us up, uncover the dark places and bring li...

He Romanced Us!

Ready to enjoy the weekend! Excitement. Pure Bliss. Exquisite. Peaceful. Those are just some of the words I can use to describe our girls weekend on last week.  4 best friends + perfect weather = The most amazing time! How can I sum up a weekend that we wait for all year long?  Just think about it....  No kids.  No husbands. No schedules.    Roslyn and Kwani catching up Just three days to catch up, eat like crazy, and soak up some sun.  We start the weekend with hugs, pictures, and long talks.  We weren't in our resort room long before the conversations started to emerge.   Late nights and early mornings were the order for the weekend.  We were so grateful to have this time together because great friendships are good for the soul .  Our relationships should be developed and nurtured through good and bad times.  It's similar to our relationship with Christ. This year's trip was a li...

Lunch Worries

Image
I must admit that I loathe taking time in the evenings to prepare lunch for the next day.  What if my kids don't go to school for one reason or another?  Not sure what the scenario might be, but what if?  That would mean that the time I spent on fixing lunches could've been used in another way. I just might be the only one who feels this way.  I'm sure that moms and dads all over the world pack lunches in the evenings to ensure a hassle free morning the next day.  I'm just not one of them.  It's all I can do to get through one day.  The thought of trying to figure it all out for the next one is sometimes more than I care to think about.  My husband on the other hand is completely different.  On the days that he takes the kids to school, he prepares the lunches the night before and even finds time to iron their clothes. The other night I started thinking about the lunches I would prepare in the morning when I thought about the ch...

Get Up!

Image
I have worked in retail for 20 years and last week for the first time the fire alarm went off in the mall.  I thought for sure it was a " false alarm " so I continued to eat and enjoy my lunch.  Within minutes a senior executive came running into the breakroom where I was sitting yelling, "Get up, this is real!  Move, move, move!."  What the heck? I was trying to have lunch and now I hear a blazing alarm in my ear and a woman yelling to the top of her lungs.       Needless to say, I quickly grabbed my handbag and moved as fast as I could.  I went busting through the door she told me to use. I ran down the emergency exit stairwell as fast as I could thinking, "What in the world is going on?"  Within seconds I was standing outside the store along with other employees and customers.       We finally received the, " All is clear " announcement and I breathed a huge sigh ...
