She's an Author!

Image
2020 was a crazy year.    How many times have we heard that? I've heard it so much that I'm tired of hearing it. Even with 2020 being a year like non other, our mother became a published author! During a pandemic and in the midst of chaos, she followed God's will.   For nearly 10 years Roslyn and I have both wanted to write a book. We've written in our private time, but we knew at some point, God would take our broken pieces and allow us to share it publicly. Never in our wildest imaginations did we think, mom would become published before us. We didn't even know she was working on a book. She's a very private person so it doesn't surprise us that she kept the project all to herself.   In the book, "Age-Old Wisdom Sayings", she joins three other writers, Marsha Deveaux Johnson, Iris Deveaux Anderson and David Johnson to share priceless words of wisdom. The power packed 55-page book records sayings of old that we've heard so many tim...

Hi, I'm Me - Guest Blogger Kelly Vurinaris

Kelly and I are different. She's Canadian and I'm American. We have worked together and we refuse to focus on our differences. Kelly is a #1 best selling international children's author. You can find her book on Amazon. I read her book OFTEN . I am honored to have her as our guest blogger today.  Kelly discusses strength she's discovered while raising a daughter with facial differences. You never know where inspiration will strike; for me, it was a train ride into the city of Toronto. I was sitting there drinking my morning tea when it came to me; all the situations that we've encountered had one thing in common. We taught her to introduce herself when someone was staring. When my daughter was born, we didn't know that she had Treacher-Collins Syndrome or had ever heard of it. The moment I met my little girl, it changed my life for the better. I took one look and said this little girl is going to change the world. I realized I wanted to be a part of changing it...

Friday Favorites-Kid's Books

Image
I love books!  Books are all over my house.  I'm not a mom that buys toys but boy will I spend tons of money on books.  I just enjoy reading. Early on I wanted to instill that same passion into my boys.   Now that my oldest son is heading into his teenage years, I've cleaned out the bookshelf.  But somehow I can't get rid of these childhood favorites. Here are my top 3 choices: I'm Parker:  Crystal Bowman The main character, Parker,  is so inquisitive and asks questions about everything.  He takes the toddler reader on a journey of adventures as he discovers the answers to all of life's BIG questions. Please, Baby, Please:  Spike Lee & Tonya Lewis Lee This book helped my son learn the word please.  Instead of always saying "no" to our young babies this book teaches us to say please, for example, when we need them to go back to bed at 3am in the morning.  You will delve into the life and schedule of a young baby ...

"The Boy on the Yellow Bus"

Image
My sister and I love to read! We don’t always find the time to sit down in a quiet corner and immerse ourselves in a good book but we try and make the effort. It’s amazing how an author has a way of transporting you to another place through the use of words. From time to time we will share with you some of the books we are currently reading. Since I am the mother of a toddler, today I am going to suggest a great children’s book. Crystal Bowman is one of our favorite children’s authors. My kids are currently enjoying her recent release “ The Boy on the Yellow Bus ”. Before I even opened the book, one of the first features I noticed was the beautiful illustrations on the front cover. It vividly displayed a little boy walking up to his school bus. All the way through the book, children of all races are displayed in the pages of the story. We enjoyed reading how one simple action sparked a chain reaction of kindness . You are taken on a journey where kindness helps to overcome fea...
