Through Her Eyes

Summer is quickly evaporating. We all wait with baited breath to see the solar eclipse that happens on Monday, Aug. 21st. Children and parents are hurriedly returning to a new pace with the school year starting and for some school is already in full swing. Young adults are excited about their new college life. Before we blink, it will be Christmas. I am one of those parents with a teenager starting his senior year of high school and youngest son entering 7th grade. Where did the time go? That is the question that most of us are asking ourselves. I've been blessed to have a refreshing Summer that came with a ton of travel.  Puerto Rico, Dallas, River Ranch Florida, Palm Beach, Melbourne, Naples, Atlanta, Cincinnati, New York, Toronto, Valdosta Georgia it seems that I was away more than I was home. Country living, beaches and metropolis cities I've experience so much in three months with my boys. My suitcase is still packed by the foot of my bed. Roslyn at River Ranch,...

We are Family!

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted.   If you let it, distractions can make you lose focus and disrupt destiny.   Writing my blog posts is a way to encourage others, t herefore, I need to make time for it.   I’m typing this post while returning home from my family reunion.   I’m blessed that both my mother’s and father’s side of the family have an annual reunion.   It’s such a great time to catch up and reconnect with family members.     This weekend we came together in Warrington, Florida (near Pensacola) where my father grew up.   The city holds precious memories of a time full of laughter, love, and wonderful fun. This would be our first family reunion without the last living matriarch of the family because my dad’s twin sister passed away last year and she was the last of his 7 siblings remaining on this side of Heaven.   Our reunion starts on Friday and lasts the entire weekend.   As a family we pray, fellowship...

Restaurant Review

Steak 954-W Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale Renee and I share a passion for food.  Most nights you will find the both us at home cooking dinner or on the phone talking about the most recent yummy recipe we prepared.  She often shares her cooking recipes with our readers. For a fun Friday twist I decided to review a restaurant.  A surprise trip from my husband to the W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale landed us at Steak 954.  We had previously dined at the restaurant before for lunch.  The dinner was a completely different experience. You walk in Steak 954 and you are instantly mesmerized by the 2000 gallon jellyfish tank.  It is the centerpiece of the restaurant.  The atmosphere was lively and surprisingly full of customers, for what is normally called the "off season".  Nakisha, our waitress, was knowledgeable and helped guide every decision of our 4 course meal.  From the selection of our wine to the dessert at the end of the meal, her e...

Fun Friday

Every since seeing the movie, "Avengers", my boys have been obsessed with super heroes.  I recently took them to the library to find a few books.  My oldest is in love with the, "NERDS" series by Michael Buckley.  It is about a group of nerds that turn into super spies. The characters are interesting because they deal with everyday problems school age children go through like:  Pufferfish (her allergies detect danger) or Wheezer (she uses her inhalers to blast the enemy).  I am just happy to find a Summer series that holds the interest of my tween. So what about you:   What super hero would you like to become?   My new name is- PenciLady (I use my words to erase all the evil in the world). Be creative, have fun and leave us a comment and let us know.  We would also love to hear about a great book you are reading to pass the time during the lazy days of Summer. (Posted by Roslyn)

Summertime!

Image
Summer is finally here and many people will watch fireworks tonight to celebrate the 4th of July . Summer has the warmest temperatures, longest days and shortest nights. This season represents a time of no schedules, homework or bedtimes. Families plan vacations. They enjoy much needed rest and relaxation. In the famous words of Will Smith, " Summer, summer, summertime-time to sit back and unwind ." Who doesn't enjoy the many fruits of summer-ice cold watermelon, juicy peaches, and nectarines. Did you realize that the fruit you buy this time of the year was planted in the dead of winter? No one was thinking of juicy summer fruit when they were knee deep in snow. Before we can have a summer harvest, we must first plant a seed in winter. What season of life are you in? Do you feel alone and isolated like many people feel in winter? Do you keep facing storms like the blizzards of winter? Did you just start a new chapter in your life and feel as if you are just starting to b...
