Why Are You Weeping?

Image
As I write this, it's Easter. For the first time on Easter, I've attended church and experienced communion on FaceBook Live. It was nice to gather in my own home with not only my physical family but also my church family. It's been quite a long time that I've dressed for church without wearing Spanx. 😁 There was a beautiful garden and an empty tomb. There was a prophecy declared (Isaiah 53) and prophecy fulfilled. But there was also weeping, sadness, confusion, doubt, fear and grieving on that first Easter Sunday. Mary Magdalene came and found an empty tomb. It was reason to celebrate yet she was confused wondering what happened to the missing body of Jesus. And they said to her, " Woman, why are you weeping ?" ~ John 20:13 NASB Why was Mary weeping? The empty tomb was a sign of a promise fulfilled. In light of all of the emotions that day, the disciples and Mary forgot the promise that Jesus gave about his death but also his resurrection . ...

Season Of Gratitude

Image
Thanksgiving is here and that means the 2017 holiday season is in full swing. The level of activity increases for most people. Holiday parties, gifts to buy, recipes to try, family dinners and cards to mail add to our level of stress this time of year. There is a way to change your mental health during this stressful time of year. Today my Pastor spoke from I Thessalonians 5:16-18 and it has the perfect prescription for success. Always be joyful. Keep on praying. No matter what happens, always be thankful... Shifting our thoughts to gratitude helps us focus on what is here versus what is missing. It grounds us to truly understand the real reason for the holiday season. Although someone else might win that coveted parking spot at the mall, or skip you in line at the grocery store always be joyful, keep on praying and always be thankful. This Thanksgiving, can you find at least three reasons to be thankful?  Well here is my list: Family Friendship Protection...

Update on Jordan

Image
What a difference a few days make. A few weeks ago I shared a testimony about God's grace in a very difficult situation. No worries if you missed it.  Read it here. I'm overwhelmed by the number of calls, texts, emails, prayers and well wishes we've received. I fully realize why God never intended for us to do life alone. We needed a village around us and we got it. Almost everyday there's someone asking about Jordan which is wonderful. That means that he's still thought of and prayed for. I wanted to provide an update because I realize that not everyone is connected to our Facebook page. Walking in with bandages. We followed up with the burn center on Wednesday. Fortunately he was able to have all of his bandages removed! This is what we prayed for. Now that the bandages are gone, we can focus on his total and complete healing. Beyond the physical pain of the experience, the hardest part for Jordan is the limitations on his outdoor time. Since his d...

I've Never Eaten.......

As we head into Thanksgiving, I thought it would be  fun to repost one of my favorite Thanksgiving posts. ENJOY! ****************************************************************************************************** We traditionally gather together with a large sampling of our family members.  Everyone under one roof is loud from the football games playing on the tv, kids playing games, and the rest of us reminiscing and catching up with each other.  Seeing cousins, uncles, and aunts, that you haven't seen in awhile is such a joy.   The agenda for the event is simple. Bring a dish. Say a prayer of thanks. Eat like tomorrow may not come. We have a traditional southern Thanksgiving meal.  However, the other day I realized, there's some traditional items  I've never enjoyed .  Some would say it's a tragedy but I would say, why add something new to the menu?  If you think I'm missing out, leave a comment a...

I've never enjoyed.....

It's hard to believe that it's almost time for Thanksgiving.  I love this time of the year.  Food, fun, family and Christmas shopping.  (Need some Black Friday shopping tips?  Here you go! )  What could be better? Fun Friday…What do you love?

Image
Well it's Friday and for most of us that means the weekend is ahead and it's time to have fun.  Renee and I were wondering…What do you love? What do you love to do on the weekends? What do you do for fun? What puts the biggest smile on your face? What makes any tough day better for you? What helps you relieve stress? We want to hear from you.  Let us know a few of the answers to the above questions.  We find it pleasurable to know more about our readers. Below is a picture of me at the South Beach Food and Wine Festival .  I had a blast because I simply LOVE food.  Whether it's caviar, cookies, chicken or champagne, I can find pleasure in almost any food.  That's right, I'm a foodie!  This little treat in my hand was a double stuffed chocolate chip cookie with a shot of milk.  Isn't that clever? Leave us a comment and let us know - What you LOVE! Oh yeah and by the way I also LOVE my new lipstick from MAC called, "Heroine". ...

When Was The Last Time You Prayed For The President?

Image
It's my weekend to blog and I wasn't sure what I wanted to write about.  With the verdict announcement yesterday and the feeling that more could have been done for Jordan Davis to receive justice, I wondered if I would repost Roslyn's post," I am Raising Americas Most Hated. "  I chose differently and instead decided to ask a question................. When was the last time you prayed for the President ? Tomorrow is President's Day (post written on Sunday).  A day when we commemorate past presidents of the USA. I couldn't help but think about our very own, President Barack Obama and other government leaders and the constant criticism they receive.  All of their words and actions are under constant scrutiny.  You might have even joined in on some of the discussions but, when was the last time you prayed for the President? 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (MSG) The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray es...
